Request a Facebook / Instagram Verification Badge
What is the Instagram/Facebook verification badge?
The Instagram/Facebook verification badge (the blue tick) proves your account is authentic. It shows you're a notable public figure, not a fake or fan page. Meta decides who gets verified — not all well-known accounts qualify.
How to apply
Instagram: Open your profile. Tap Menu (three lines) > Settings > Account > Request Verification. Fill out the form. Instagram reviews and notifies you via in-app notification.
Facebook: Visit Request a verified badge on Facebook and follow the steps.
Who qualifies
Meta has strict requirements:
- Your profile must represent a well-known, highly searched person, brand, or entity.
- Your account must be authentic (real person or entity), unique (one account per person/business), and complete (public profile with bio, photo, and recent activity).
- You must follow Facebook's Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
- All information must be truthful. Sponsored articles, false info, or paying for verification disqualifies you.
- If denied, don't resubmit unless you have new information that changes the decision.
What helps
Public media coverage matters most. Links to social platforms aren't enough. You need coverage from notable outlets — not opinion pieces or paid PR. Follower count doesn't guarantee approval.
